Yale University

Yale University ( English : Yale University ) is a private Ivy League- university located in New Haven , Connecticut . It is in 1701 founded the colony of Connecticut , and is today the third oldest institution of higher education in the United States. Yale has many notable alumni delivered, including five US presidents , seventeen US Supreme Court Justices in addition to several other heads of state .

Incorporated as Kollegiaatskool , the institution can trace its roots to 17th-century religious teachers who wished to establish a college for the training of teachers and political leaders for the colony. In 1718 the college was renamed Yale College to honor a donation of Elihu Yale , a governor of the British East India Company . In 1861, the Gegradueerdekollege of Arts and Sciences became the first US school for a Ph.D. to know. [4]

Yale College was transformed, beginning in the 1930s, through the establishment of residential colleges , which currently has 12 life and two more are planned. Almost all appointed professors teach undergraduate courses, more than 2,000 are held annually. [5] [6]

The assets of Yale included a US $ 16.3 billion bonus , [7] the second largest for any academic institution and the second largest academic library in the world, with at around 12.5 million tires to be held in more than two dozen libraries . [8]

Yale and Harvard are traditional wedyweraars in academics, athletics and other activities for the greater part of their existence, and compete annually with in The Game and the Harvard-Yale Regatta .
