HENRY DUNANT UNIVERSITY COLLEGE/
SUMMER UNIVERSITY ON HUMAN RIGHTS

The Henry Dunant University College/ Summer University on Human Rights and the Right to Education (HDuC) is a foundation under Swiss law. The programme was launched in 1995 within the framework of the United Nations Decade for Human Rights Education (1995 - 2004), on the initiative of OIDEL.

HDuC proposes a diversity of training programmes, each tailored for a particular target group. The most significant, which take place at the UN in Geneva in July and August, are the SUHR programme and other post-graduate programmes co-organised with the University of Geneva and the Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia (UNED, Spain). SUHR also organises programmes to suit particular requests on an ad hoc basis.

The UN multidisciplinary post-graduate training programme is aimed primarily at decision makers (diplomats, civil servants, members of parliament), activists, journalists, academics, and students who have completed a degree in law, social sciences or education. It takes place during the meetings of the Sub-Commission on Human Rights, and benefits from the official support of the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, which provides logistics and expertise.
